“The JUNTOS program enables us to talk about Health Promotion for children with long-term conditions, which has been a challenge in Brazil, and this is a big step towards the health and inclusion of these children. Through the program families are invited to reframe their role in the care of their children and also their role in the community. They are invited to talk about health in a wider sense.

Throughout the program we have seen transformations occur, mothers recognizing themselves as women again, fathers including themselves in children’s care, families’ perspectives on their children being redefined, and paths being built for them to be more integrated into the community.

Perhaps this is the most valuable aspect of the program JUNTOS: The creation of support networks for these children and their families in order to become more visible, hence more powerful. ” Barbara Castro – Researcher (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil)
